What is Rickey Barcelona's Mission?

Rickey Barcelona is a fragrance house and research-driven creative studio exploring how scent impacts the human brain, emotional memory, and behavior. The brand operates across two aligned pillars: luxury fragrance innovation and olfactory research focused on neurological health and human response.

At the center of its research work is the Scent, Smell & Heritage Project—an initiative dedicated to studying how scent influences brain activity, particularly in individuals affected by Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and unconscious or semi-conscious states. This project examines how olfactory stimuli may support memory recall, emotional grounding, and neural engagement when traditional communication pathways are limited.

The “heritage” aspect of the project is not historical reenactment, but biological and emotional inheritance—investigating how individuals naturally respond to certain scent profiles based on lived experience, environment, and neurological imprint. The research focuses on what people instinctively gravitate toward and how scent can reconnect them to a sense of familiarity, safety, or presence.

Alongside its research initiatives, Rickey Barcelona collaborates with brands and institutions to develop original, non-derivative fragrance concepts that prioritize emotional connection, customer retention, and sensory experience. This includes:
